Class B driving licence – your route to independence
The standard European driving licence – and you'll be ready for (almost) anything. Everything is included: practical lessons, theory programme, use of our app and preparation for your test. We also offer a Class B Automatic.
With a Class B driving licence, you'll be ready for the open road and will be able to drive the following vehicles:
Cars:
- Vehicles with up to nine seats (incl. driver)
- Maximum authorised mass (MAM): ≤ 3,500kg
Light goods vehicles and vans:
- Delivery vans or small lorries
Taxis (after passing your probationary period)
Self-propelled machines:
- MAM: up to 12,000kg
Tractors (for agricultural purposes)
Two-wheelers and light vehicles:
- Mopeds: ≤50cc and ≤40 km/h
- Quad bikes (light and standard)
Trailers:
- Trailers up to 750kg MAM, even if the total weight of the towing vehicle and trailer is over 3,500kg
- Trailers over 750kg, provided the total weight (vehicle + trailer) does not exceed 3,500kg
Requirements
- Minimum age: 17 with Conduite Accompagnée (accompanied driving)
- Minimum age: 17.5 for regular driving lessons
Training
Theory
- 12 hours of theory lessons
- Subsequent theory test
- If you already have a driving licence, you only need to complete half of the required theory lessons before taking your test.
Practice
- 16 driving lessons + practical test
- With Conduite Accompagnée (accompanied driving):
- 12 driving lessons before starting the accompanied phase
- 4 driving lessons after completing the accompanied phase
What you need to sign up
- Biometric passport photo (45 x 35mm)
- Medical certificate (no more than three months old)
- Copy of your identity card or passport
- Copy of your existing driving licence (if applicable)
- If you have lived in Luxembourg for less than five years, you'll need to provide a criminal record check from your country of origin
- For underage applicants:
- Copy of a parent's or legal guardian's identity card
- A parent's signature on the application form
- Additionally for Conduite Accompagnée:
- Copies of all accompanying drivers' identity cards and driving licences (Class B driving licence must have been held for at least six years)
- Learner driver insurance for the private vehicle (can be obtained from your insurance company)
